20190513 Town Meeting

The Mayor and Town Council of the Village of Harrisonburg met in Regular Session on Monday, May 13, 2019 at 6:00 p.m. at the Village of Harrisonburg Town Hall.

Council Members Present: Mayor: Michael Tubre, Aldermen: Greg Terry, Judy Cotten, Arthurine Watson   Also Present: Town Clerk: Patricia Hefner, Town Attorney: Joey Boothe, Police Officer: Skylar Dore, Superintendent: Willie Fair, Fire Chief Kevin Hackney

There being a quorum present, the Mayor called the meeting to order.

On a motion by Council Member Cotten, seconded by Council Member Watson, with all in favor, the Council approved the April Meeting Minutes.

On a motion by Council Member Terry, seconded by Council Member Cotten, with all in favor, the Council approved the April Account Transfers and Disbursements.

On a motion by Council Member Terry, seconded by Council Member Cotten, with all in favor, the Council adopted Resolution 20190513 adopting the millage rates for the 2019 tax year.

The Cross Connection Control Ordinance was introduced and a public hearing was set for June 10th at 5:45.

On a motion by Council Member Terry, seconded by Council Member Cotten, with all in favor, the Council voted to adopt a resolution authorizing Mayor Tubre to terminate the contract with WastePro.

On a motion by Council Member Terry, seconded by Council Member Cotten, with all in favor, the Council voted to adopt a resolution authorizing Mayor Tubre to purchase and sign all documents related to the purchase of land located behind the town shop.

On a motion by Council Member Cotten, seconded by Council Member Terry, with all in favor, the Council voted to adopt a resolution authorizing Mayor Tubre to enter into a servitude agreement with John Costanza to access and clean the property located on the riverfront.

The Service League announced official dates for the Fort Beauregard Festival: June 8-9th, 2019 and the opening of the Farmers Market: June 21st, 2019.

On a motion by Council Member Cotten, seconded by Council Member Watson, with all in favor, the Council adjourned the meeting.
