20190909 Town Meeting

The Mayor and Town Council of the Village of Harrisonburg met in Regular Session on September, 9th, 2019 at 6:00 p.m. at the Village of Harrisonburg Town Hall.

Council Members Present: Mayor: Michael Tubre, Aldermen: Greg Terry and Arthurine Watson. Also Present: Town Clerk: Patricia Hefner, Town Attorney: Joey Boothe, Police Chief: Lyndell Atkins Superintendent: Willie Fair, Grant Writer: Ginger Breithaupt, Architect: Jack Breithaupt and Betty Gauthier with the Harrisonburg Service League.

There being a quorum present, the Mayor called the meeting to order.

On a motion by Council Member Terry, seconded by Council Member Watson, with all in favor, the Council approved August Meeting Minutes.

On a motion by Council Member Watson, seconded by Council Member Terry, with all in favor, the Council approved the August Account Transfers and Disbursements.

On a motion by Council Member Terry, seconded by Council Member Watson, with all in favor, the Council adopted Resolution 20190909 Authorizing the town clerk to transfer funds in between the Village of Harrisonburg accounts online. This resolution allows the clerk the ability to transfer funds to the appropriate Village of Harrisonburg Accounts as needed and enables funds to be transferred between Village of Harrisonburg Accounts to cover expenses for the appropriate town departments for the Village.

On a motion by Council Member Terry, seconded by Council Member Watson, with all in favor, the Council adopted Resolution 2019909-2 Authorizing the Mayor to Contract with Code Studio to draw up a Comprehensive town plan for the Village of Harrisonburg.  Code Studio will travel to Harrisonburg for a 3-day workshop on Saturday December 7th, Sunday December 8th, and Monday December 9th. This workshop is designed to encourage citizens and stakeholders to identify development goals for the Village, with a focus on creating a framework on which the Village can build on moving forward.

On a motion by Council Member Watson, seconded by Council Member Terry, with all in favor, the Council adjourned the meeting.
