Volunteers Welcome

Meetings are held at 6 p.m. the second Tuesday of each month at the Village of Harrisonburg Fire Department across from town hall.
108 Sicily Street.

Harrisonburg Fire Department provides a unique opportunity for Volunteer Firefighters, covering District 3, the Village of Harrisonburg, and offering automatic aid to Enterprise along with neighboring stations within Catahoula Parish. Whether you come to us with training or are new to the fire/rescue service, we can provide you with a diverse experience in helping your community.

Operating as a Volunteer at the Harrisonburg Fire Department will give you the opportunity to serve your community in various functions including Firefighter, Driver / Operator, and Officer. You will be part of a volunteer crew with others just like you, interested in helping and supporting Harrisonburg and neighboring communities. Our monthly meetings and training workshops afford us the best chance to stay on top of our game.

Across the United States, fire departments are struggling to attract, recruit, and retain volunteers. In many communities, the lack of volunteers is becoming critical. Fire and EMS agencies need people to perform the tasks necessary to return an emergency back to a state of normalcy. If people are not volunteering, the fire and EMS services are left critically short when emergencies occur.

Many volunteer firefighters are working full-time jobs. But they do not work the same hours.

In today’s era of busy, any amount of time a volunteer can donate to the fire department is a true gift. We need You!!
