20230610 HARRISONBURG TOWN MEETING

The mayor and town council of the Village of Harrisonburg met in Regular Session on Monday, June 12th, 2023 at 6:00 p.m. at the Village of Harrisonburg Town Hall.

Council Members Present:  Mayor Michael Tubre, Council members: Greg Terry and Judy Cotton; Absent: Council Member Blake Barbo. There being a quorum present, the mayor called the meeting to order.

On a motion by Council Member Cotten, seconded by Council Member Terry, with all in favor, the Council approved May meeting minutes as published.

On a motion by Council Member Terry, seconded by Council Member Cotten, with all in favor, the Council approved May account transfers, disbursements and budget items.

On a motion by Council Member Terry, seconded by Council Member Cotten, with all in favor, the Council adopted Resolution 20230612: Adopting the Operating Budget of Revenues and Expenditures for the year beginning July 1, 2023 and ending June 30, 2024 and amending the Operating Budget of Revenues and Expenditures for the year beginning July 1, 2022 and ending June 30, 2023

On a motion by Council Member Cotten, seconded by Council Member Terry, with all in favor, the Council appointed the Catahoula News Booster as the official journal.

On a motion by Council Member Terry, seconded by Council Member Cotton, with all in favor, the Council introduced Ordinance 20230710: Town Clerk Duties and Salary.

A discussion was held concerning the Maintenance Department’s lack of transportation. Utility Truck #1 is the only truck running and available to respond to all system needs. Utility Truck #2 is in the shop having a motor replaced and Utility Truck #3 recently broke down and needs to be replaced.  Due to the emergency situation; On a motion by Council Member Cotton, seconded by council member Terry the council voted to purchase a Chevy Silverado maintenance truck in the amount of $11,995.00 to replace maintenance truck#3.

A discussion was held concerning the location of the bulk water pipe between the parking lot and fire department on Sicily Street. Council agreed to remove the pipe.

On a motion by Council Member Cotten, seconded by Council Member Terry, with all in favor, the Council adjourned the meeting.

OPERATING BUDGET: RESOLUTION # 20230612                            

A Resolution adopting an Operating Budget of Revenues and Expenditures for the year beginning July 1, 2023 and ending June 30, 2024 and amending the Operating Budget of Revenues and Expenditures for the year beginning July 1, 2022 and ending June 30, 2023

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN VILLAGE OF HARRISONBURG, convened in general session, that:

SECTION 1: Revenues and Expenditures for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2023, and ending June 30, 2024, is and the same is hereby adopted to serve as an Operating Budget of Revenues and Expenditures for the Village, during the same period.


TOTAL REVENUES: $250,000                  TOTAL EXPENDITURES: $ 245,000

SECTION 2: Revenues and Expenditures for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2022, and ending June 30, 2023, is and the same is hereby adopted to serve as an Amended Operating Budget of Expenditures for the Village, during the same period.

TOTAL REVENUES: $270,000         TOTAL EXPENDITURES: $ 285,000
