Council Meeting
July 13th 2026 – 6:00 P.M.
MINUTES
Mayor Pro-Tem Greg Terry and the Village Council of the Village of Harrisonburg, Louisiana, met in regular session on Monday, July 13, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. at the Village of Harrisonburg Town Hall, 108 Sicily Street, Harrisonburg, Louisiana.
Roll Call
Present: Mayor Pro-Tem Greg Terry, Council Member Judy Cotton, Council Member Blake Barbo. Absent: Mayor Mike Tubre
A quorum being present, Mayor Pro-Tem Greg Terry called the meeting to order. Council Member Blake Barbo gave the invocation and led the Pledge of Allegiance.
Approval of Minutes
A motion was made by Council Member Cotton and seconded by Council Member Barbo to approve the June 8, 2026, regular meeting minutes as published. Upon vote, the motion carried unanimously.
Financial Reports
A motion was made by Council Member Barbo and seconded by Council Member Cotton to approve the June 2026 financial reports, including transfers, disbursements, and the budget report. Upon vote, the motion carried unanimously.
Public Discussion
Street Repairs
The Council discussed needed repairs to Adams Street, Monroe Street, and Catahoula Street. Additional discussion was held regarding the roadway near the water treatment plant, which has become damaged during periods of heavy rainfall. It was also noted that a tree had fallen beside Polk Street across from Fort Hill and should be removed.
Fire Department
The Council discussed several matters concerning the Harrisonburg Volunteer Fire Department, including funding needs, the purchase of a dedicated laptop for department use, and recent changes to the department’s meeting schedule.
The Fire Department will meet at 6:00 p.m. on the first and third Tuesday of each month at the Village of Harrisonburg Town Hall, located at 108 Sicily Street, with firefighter training to immediately follow at the Fire Department building located across from Town Hall.
Additional discussion was held regarding the fire pager application. Several volunteer firefighters need to be added to the cellular notification system; however, the current subscription has a limited number of available user slots. The Village will investigate options for increasing the number of available spaces to accommodate additional volunteers and ensure the department roster remains current.
Adjournment
There being no further business to come before the Council, a motion to adjourn was made by Council Member Barbo and seconded by Mayor Pro-Tem Terry. Upon vote, the motion was carried unanimously, and the meeting adjourned at 6:50 p.m.
