VILLAGE OF HARRISONBURG

REGULAR TOWN MEETING 20250908

Mayor Michael Tubre and the Council of the Village of Harrisonburg, Louisiana, met in regular session on Monday, September 8, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. at the Village of Harrisonburg Town Hall, 108 Sicily Street, Harrisonburg, Louisiana.

Council Present: Mayor Michael Tubre, Mayor Pro-Tem Greg Terry, Councilmember Judy Cotten, and Councilmember Blake Barbo.

There being a quorum present, Mayor Tubre called the meeting to order.

Mayor Tubre gave the invocation and led the Pledge of Allegiance.

A motion was made by Councilmember Cotten and seconded by Councilmember Terry to accept the August 11, 2025, meeting minutes as published. The floor was opened for public comment. On vote, the motion carried unanimously.

A motion was made by Councilmember Terry and seconded by Councilmember Barbo to accept the August 2025 financial reports: transfers, disbursements, and budget report. The floor was opened for public comment. On vote, the motion carried unanimously.

Public Comment:
Mayor Tubre opened the floor for public comment. It was announced that Spirits on the Hill will be held October 17–18, 2025, and Trunk or Treat will take place on Friday, October 31, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Community Clean-Up Initiative:
The Village of Harrisonburg continues to encourage all residents to take pride in their community by cleaning up around their property. The Council requested that notices be sent to residences found to be in violation of the Premises Maintenance Ordinance.

Animal Control Concerns:
The Village of Harrisonburg will continue to enforce the Animal Control Ordinance. Several dogs have been reported roaming near the school grounds and the intersection by Family Dollar. One of the dogs has reportedly nipped at and growled at community members, raising concerns for public safety. The Village will begin issuing citations for any animals found roaming within the corporate limits.

There being no further business to come before the Council, a motion to adjourn was made by Councilmember Barbo and seconded by Councilmember Cotten at 6:15 p.m. On vote, the motion carried unanimously.
