UTILITIES IN GENERAL
ORDINANCE NO. 20231113
AN ORDINANCE TO SET THE UTILITIES IN GENERAL FOR THE VILLAGE OF HARRISONBURG.
Be it ordained by the Mayor and the Board of Aldermen of the Village of Harrisonburg, Louisiana, in legal session convened, the Utilities in General, Dates and Fees for the Village of Harrisonburg, is hereby enacted to read as follows:
Fire Donation
Fire Department: 2.00
Garbage Fees
Garbage Pickup (1) time per week
Residential: 7.50
Business: 15.00
Commercial: 25.00
Taxes
3.8% Tax charged to any business or commercial bill.
Residential Customers are not charged taxes on utilities.
Late Fee
Utility Bills will be delinquent on the 15th day of each month; a 10% late fee will be added to the total amount due. All bills received in the drop box after closing hours, will be dated for the following workday.
Reconnect Fee
The total amount of bill including a reconnect fee of 40.00 will be paid in full in order to have utilities reconnected after disconnect.
Disconnect Date
Utilities will be disconnected on the 20th of each month. The disconnect date will be stated on the utility bill. All utilities that are not paid in full by the delinquent date will be disconnected on the disconnect date without further notice.
Utility Drafts Date
Utility accounts will be drafted on the 10th day of each month. If the 7th day falls on a weekend, drafts will be completed on the following Monday.
REPEALER:
All ordinances, resolutions or parts of ordinances or resolutions in conflict with the provisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed.
AMENDMENT TO POLICIES AND PROCEDURES:
The “Collection of Delinquent Accounts” provision in the Village of Harrisonburg Policy and Procedure 104 – Utility Collections is hereby amended to conform with the provisions of this Ordinance.
SEVERABILITY:
If any section, provision, or part of this resolution shall be adjudged to be invalid or unconstitutional, such adjudication shall not affect the validity of the resolution as a whole or any section, provision, or part thereof, not adjudged invalid or unconstitutional.
EFFECTIVE DATE:
This ordinance shall be in effect on January 1st, 2023, after its final passage approval, and publication as provided by law.
Said Ordinance having been introduced on the 9th day of October 2023, by notice of Public Hearing having been published on the 1st day of November 2023, said Public Hearing having been held, title having been read and Ordinance considered, on motion by Terry seconded by Cotten to adopt the Ordinance. A record vote was taken and the following result was had:

Whereupon the Mayor declared the above Ordinance duly adopted on the 13th day of November 2023.
