REGULAR TOWN MEETING

The Mayor and Council of the Village of Harrisonburg met in regular session on Monday, May 11, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. at the Village of Harrisonburg Town Hall, 108 Sicily Street, Harrisonburg, Louisiana.

ROLL CALL / COUNCIL PRESENT
Present: Mayor Michael Tubre, Mayor Pro-Tem Greg Terry, and Councilmember Judy Cotten.
Absent: Councilmember Blake Barbo. Also Present: Town Attorney Joey Boothe.
There being a quorum present, Mayor Michael Tubre called the meeting to order. John Barker gave the invocation, and Mayor Tubre led the Pledge of Allegiance.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES
A motion was made by Councilmember Cotten and seconded by Mayor Pro-Tem Terry to approve the April 2026 meeting minutes as published. The floor was opened for public comment. There being none, the motion was put to a vote. Motion carried unanimously.

FINANCIAL REPORTS
A motion was made by Mayor Pro-Tem Terry and seconded by Councilmember Cotten to approve the April 2026 financial reports, including transfers, disbursements, and budget reports. The floor was opened for public comment. There being none, the motion was put to a vote. Motion carried unanimously.

FIRE DEPARTMENT MATTERS
A motion was made by Mayor Pro-Tem Terry and seconded by Councilmember Cotten to accept the resignation of Ethan House as Fire Chief. The floor was opened for public comment. There being none, the motion was put to a vote. Motion carried unanimously.
A motion was made by Mayor Pro-Tem Terry and seconded by Councilmember Cotten to appoint Tommy Cater as Fire Chief. The floor was opened for public comment. There being none, the motion was put to a vote. Motion carried unanimously.
It was announced that Fire Department meetings will be held on the 3rd Thursday of each month at the Harrisonburg Town Hall Council Room.

PUBLIC COMMENT
Mayor Michael Tubre discussed updates regarding the Village of Harrisonburg Fire Department. Throughout May, several dedicated volunteers have actively assisted with repairs, preparing equipment and fire trucks for service. Currently, the department has four operational trucks. The first Fire Department meeting had 22 individuals in attendance, including volunteers from within the Village limits and District 3. Volunteers are encouraged to participate and can learn as they gain experience. The Fire Department rating remains important because it directly impacts homeowners’ insurance ratings for both the Village of Harrisonburg and District 3. Community participation and support continue to play an important role in maintaining and improving these ratings.

ADJOURNMENT
Mayor Michael Tubre opened the floor for public comment. There being no further business to come before the Council, a motion to adjourn was made by Councilmember Cotten and seconded by Mayor Pro-Tem Terry at 6:50 p.m. The motion was put to a vote. Motion carried unanimously.
